You can invoke a script at startup or run a script using either the SCRIPT or the SCRIPTCALL command. The difference is that the SCRIPTCALL command can execute nested scripts in addition to commands. With the SCRIPT command, if a script is currently active when the SCRIPT command is invoked, the script is stopped.
- Do one of the following:
- Windows 7: Click the Windows Start button Run.
- Windows 8: On the Windows Start screen, right-click (or use the swipe up gesture from the bottom edge of the screen) and click All Apps. Scroll to the Windows System section and click Run.
- Windows 8.1: On the Windows Start screen, click the All Apps button located near the lower-left corner of the screen (or use the swipe up gesture from the bottom edge of the screen). Scroll to the Windows System section and click Run.
- Windows 10: Click the Windows Start button All Apps Windows System Run.
- In the Run dialog box, do one of the following:
- For AutoCAD, enter acaddrawing_name/bscript_name
- For AutoCAD LT, enter acadltdrawing_name/bscript_name
To start a new file, instead of a drawing file name, enter the /t command line switch and the name of a template file: /t template_drawing.
To open a drawing file to a particular view, follow the drawing name with the /v command line switch and the name of the view: /v view_name.
The name of the script file must be the last parameter listed. The file extensions are optional.
- Click OK.
The application opens the drawing and executes the commands in the script file. When the script has been completed, the Command prompt is displayed.
